Young People: HIV/AIDS

Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS)

Dear readers, this particular topic has been on my mind. Recently I saw a video on Facebook of a young lady who publicly admitted to having HIV and I fully get the message she was giving.

A lot of young ones know what this disease is and how to prevent it but they mostly chose not to prevent themself from it especially on first time having sex with someone you just met.

HIV is a virus that can be contacted through body fluids (sex), such as saliva and tears, do not transmit HIV , contaminated blood transfusions,  from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding and used needles. It attacks the body’s immune system, specifically the CD4 cells(white blood cells), often called T cells. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body can’t fight off infections and disease.  Untreated, HIV reduces the number of CD4 cells in the body and the end stadium is called Aids.

One for all and all for one, let’s be more conscious of our health and together we can prevent this virus from spreading. Take care of yourself out there!
